A Yokohama carved wood display cabinet, late 19th century

the glazed circular display area with fabric backing, containing four stepped shelves supported on a central column carved with flowering prunus, bamboo and rockwork rising from a lower shelf, within the wood frame surmounted by an elaborate pierced cresting of flowering iris and cloud scrolls, and supported on four cabriole legs similarly carved with iris springing from the coiled stem feet, all above a rectangular platform base on claw feet, fitted with a single drawer, the slatted tambour sides opening to the cabinet to either side

Condition Report

The tambour movement could benefit from a service as it is slightly stiff.A vertical hairline crack to the front cresting lower left for approx 20 cm. Minor chips to carved edges. The rear cloud carved cresting on the left side detached and re-applied and on the right side slightly loose. Both sides missing a small plug for attatchment and two plugs hiding screws missing. The glass replaced. The silk back with minor fraying to edges.Generally presents well.
