Ready to Bid?
You have found the perfect item and now you are ready to bid!
With several ways to bid, making a purchase at Smith & Singer is simple:
- Attend an auction and bid in person
- Bid over the telephone with a Smith & Singer representative
- Submit an Absentee Bid
- Bid online in real time via Smith & Singer's Bidlive portal or via Invaluable (additional 5% fee to bid via Invaluable on successful lots)
Please note if you are a new client with Smith & Singer you will need to provide a clear scanned copy of your government issued photographic identification (such as driver's licence or passport) for verification purposes, your name should be clearly defined on the document as per your registration form.
AUCTION ROOM BIDDING
To bid in person, pre-register for a paddle at least 24 hours before the auction. Either complete the online form from the Auction page or print the form and submit it via facsimile to Sydney +61 (0)2 9362 1136 or Melbourne +61 (0)3 9654 2301. You may also scan and email the form to [email protected].
You may also register on the night of the auction, by filling in a bid form and collecting your bidding paddle.
You may collect your paddle immediately prior to the auction at the sale location.
If you prefer not to or are unable to attend the auction, one of our telephone bidders will call you during the sale and relay your bids to the auctioneer. You can sign up for this service by submitting a Telephone Bidding Form on sothebysaustralia.com.au; 24 hours prior to the auction or by faxing a registration form to the sale location.
Complete the Telephone Form via the Lot page or print the form and fax to Smith & Singer.
Should you be unavailable to bid in person, or prefer to bid You can submit your maximum bid in advance of the auction. We will contact you after the sale if yours is the winning bid. Simply submit the Absentee Bidding Form on sothebysaustralia.com.au 24 hours prior to the auction by faxing a registration form to the sale location.
Complete the Absentee Bidding Form via the Lot page or print the form and fax to Smith & Singer.
Online bidding allows you to bid via the internet in real time while watching a live broadcast of the auction. Please sign up for this service 24 hours prior to the auction. Several minutes prior to the auction, log on to watch the sale and place your bids live as the auction is in progress.
