Accompanying this painting when last sold by Sotheby's was a Waringarri Aboriginal Arts certificate that read: 'Punmu is now an Aboriginal Community and is located at the Great Sandy Desert along the Kidson Track in Western Australia. The community is surrounded by big sand dunes and sits on the edge of a large salt lake called Lake Dora. The salt lake is associated with an incident in the artist's early life as a stockman. While he was travelling through the country he saw the lake and climbed off his camel to get drinking water. When the artist revisited the country he was inspired to make several paintings of the area'.
