It is not so very long ago that the Chevrolet Corvette C1 (built between 1953 and 1962) and C2 (1963 – 1967) were just second hand cars. But the American working man’s dream has escalated in value due to its classic looks, cult status and most importantly, rarity. The ‘vette was America’s first real sports car, a US based response to the large number of British and Italian two-seaters that proliferated after 1945. When it was first launched in 1953, available only in ‘Polo’ white with ‘Sportsman’ red vinyl interior, the Corvette was dramatically effective in its appearance. It was not until 1955 however, when Chevrolet fitted its small block V8 under the hood that performance began to match the car’s sensual looks.

The Corvette was the first mass produced car to use a fibreglass body and it was also the pioneer of the wraparound windscreen. It was re-skinned in 1956 with new colours, more body sculpting and even more chrome but still remaining faithful to Harley Earl’s original design, the Corvette took on iconic status as the star of television programme, ‘Route 66’ from 1960.

This 1962 327/360hp fuel injected Corvette “Fuellie” is in marvellous concourse condition having undergone the rigours of National Corvette Registration Society (NCRS) documentation. A rare vehicle with just 1,918 examples of this Corvette built, it is believed to be the only one of its kind in Australia.

This restored, unmolested little red Corvette with red interior is a left hand drive, fuel injected car, number 1349. It comes with full history, books and manuals and its original delivery docket.
