Provenence: Johan Wilip was the first Estonian professor of physics at Tartu Yniversity and developed the Golitzon-Wilip seismograph. This watch was reputedly given to Johan Wilip by Tzar Nicholas II of Russia in recognition of his research into the development of the seismograph and the founding of the first seismographic station in Estonia.
