The present lot is a replica of the Longines Hour Angle wristwatch designed by Charles Lindbergh and was produced in a small series to mark the 60th anniversary of Lindbergh's historic flight on May 20/21, 1927. Colonel Charles A. Lindberg made the first solo crossing of the Atlantic in 1927 aided only by a compass and a standard watch. As a result of his voyage he apparently arrived at the conception of an instrument that would indicate both Greenwich Time and the corresponding hour angle. Designs were submitted to Longines who produced the original model and the modern day replicas. Width 57mm. Accompanied by presentation box, booklet and extra leather strap.
