The gentleman's 18ct gold automatic wristwatch with silvered dial, applied gold batons, date at three and subsidiary seconds dial, dial and movement signed Patek Philippe Genève, reference 3445, movement number 1.121.747, case number 315.811, calibre M27-460, on a brown leather strap, diameter 35mm. Accompanied by extract from the archives. Ref. 3445, frequently referred to as the 'Monodate', was the first calendar wristwatch produced by the company in series. It was manufactured from 1961 until 1981. It is one of the most popular automatic wristwatches made by Patek Philippe and incorporates the legendary calibre 27-460. Created by Patek Philippe, the calibre 27-460 is known for its efficiency and exceptional quality. To ensure that the watch is continually and smoothly wound when worn, a gold rotor is incorporated. The reason gold is chosen for the rotor is due to its gravity which is almost twice that of lead. Cal. 27-460M and Ref. 3445 are illustrated in Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Vol. II, Second Edition, pp. 220-221.
