The gentleman's 18ct gold automatic wristwatch with cream enamel dial, applied gold batons and subsidiary seconds dial, circular water resistant type case, screw back, dial signed Patek Philippe Genève, reference no. 2526, movement no. 761801, case no. 687234, Cal. 12-600 AT, nickel-finished lever movement stamped twice with the Geneva seal, 30 jewels, engine turned 18ct gold rotor, with a later 18ct gold bracelet, case and movement signed, inscribed to the reverse ''TOM POWELL 24.12.56', 35mm diameter. Accompanied by extract from the archives. Production of reference 2526, Patek Philippe's first self-winding watch, was launched in 1953. The model features the legendary calibre 12-600 AT which was granted Swiss patent no. 289758 in 1953 for 'a self-winding mechanism for a wristwatch movement using the energy supplied by a rotary mass causing an eccentric part to transmit a swinging movement to an organ of the mechanism'. Both model and movement are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, first edition pp. 168-169, second edition pp. 213, 214, 216-217. The property of a gentleman.
