the cream ground decorated with foliage and landscape scenes, the arching cornice surmounted by a central scrolling foliate crest, the upper section having two panelled doors with applied mouldings opening to reveal shelves to the painted interior, the lower section having a fall front with applied mouldings, surmounted by candle slides, opening to reveal a faux field maple and gilded writing surface, the interior fitted with a central compartment flanked by four small drawers, above three long serpentine fronted drawers with brass knob handles, supported on bracket feet

Historical repair and reinforcement to crest, with associated redecoration, gilding to cornice refreshed, minor chips to cornice moulding, red decoration strengthened throughout, decals throughout have suffered slight losses and / or darkening, gilded mouldings to doors with chips and losses and consequent re-gilding, some paint loss to outer front edge of doors, interior to upper section having decoration refreshed, central bureau section having minor chips, gilding refreshed, several interior drawers with linings replaced, secret compartments and till with sections replaced, interior drawers and writing surface with faux finish and gilding refreshed, lower section with decoration and gilding refreshed in places, minor shrinkage crack to left hand side panel, chips to feet particularly in outer corners, presents well for a piece of this age and type.
