of deep rectangular form, with double loop handles on quatrefoil escutcheons and knock plate, a large rectangular lockplate on the front with a cloud-form hasp, the sides painted in gilt on the black lacquer ground with figures variously occupied in a pavilion garden setting extending over the cover and front, the sides and back with fruiting and flowering sprays

Condition Report
Overall crackle to the lacquer and surface wear, particularly over the base. Some small repairs to chips along the edges around the top. A crack running from the lower edge of the back across the underside approx 13cm. The lacquer has flaked off along the edges where the cover and the box meet. The interior showing some wear.
