Provenance
Property of the late Mr. Arthur Tipper, New South Wales
Arthur Tipper went to China in 1901 and worked in Tientsin (Tianjin) until he was re-patriated to Sydney in 1946. During the second world war he and his family were interned by the Japanese and his collection of ivory and jade works of art was placed in storage until they were released in 1946 when the ivory pieces were brought to Australia.

Some vertical dark cracks in ivory. The base pierced with three holes and a curved crack on the underside
