The central crouching panther motif set with emerald eyes, onyx nose and collar, pavé set with round brilliant cut diamonds, to circular and rectangular links highlighted with round brilliant cut diamonds, mounted in 18ct white gold, signed Cartier, numbered 20956B, length approximately 175mm. Accompanied by a Cartier box.

The Panthere is acknowledged as one of Cartier's most enduring and timeless motifs. First appearing on a watch in 1914, in 1948 the panther motif went 3-D when The Duke and Duchess of Windsor commissioned a golden cat perched on top of a cabochon emerald. This cemented the trend, also indulged in by luminaries such as the heiresses Barbara Hutton, Daisy Fellowes and Princess Nina Aga Khan, whose husband ordered a whole collection of pieces featuring the ‘cat'. The iconic Panthere motif today is synonymous with the House of Cartier.
