The Italian firm of Buccellati is internationally renowned for its unique and distinctive style in creating textural gold jewellery. Mario Buccellati traces a family history of gold and silversmithing to the 19th Century and subsequently founded the jewellery house in Milan in 1919 where production under his sons continues today. The creations reference the goldsmithing techniques of the Renaissance era. Mario Buccellati derived much inspiration from the superb craftsmanship and ‘texture engraving' of the celebrated 16th Century goldsmith and sculptor Benevenuto Cellini. The beautifully handcrafted jewels in this sale incorporate fine mixed metals and beautiful and unusual gemstones and are exquisite examples of Buccellati's style, unparalleled craftsmanship and classic designs. The impeccable level of detail, delicate engraving and rigorously textured surfaces create the look and feel of silk, damask, tulle and lace.
