OTHER NOTES
This fine Spanish Baroque religious painting combines devotional sincerity with a sensitive, even sentimental naturalism, very much in the manner of Murillo. While evidently not by the hand or even the immediate circle of the master, the present work does evince many of his historical and stylistic inflections, and can probably be attributed to a contemporary artist from the School of Granada

CONDITION

Visual and ultraviolet examination suggests various old retouchings throughout.

The painting has been restretched, but not relined.

Extensive cracquelure especially in darker areas.

Line top to bottom 12CM from right hand edge suggests that the canvas was folded back at some stage.
