Smith & Singer is honoured to present Interior with Chinese Lantern (2018) – the first in a series of tondos that Cressida Campbell commenced in 2018 – within our forthcoming private auction, to be held on 28 May 2020. The circular format has long been of interest to the artist, with each new picture presenting a fresh compositional challenge. As ever with Campbell's exquisite interiors, content and colour are intrinsically important, but within a circular composition how objects are placed within a frame and the proportion of that frame becomes even more integral.
Interior with Chinese Lantern represents the first round composition by the artist ever to be offered on the secondary market.
