Smith & Singer’s tightly curated August 2024 auction of Important Australian Art achieved exceptional results for traditional, modern and contemporary Australian art with a total of $11,226,955 (including buyer’s premium).

Determined bidding from clients in the saleroom, on telephones, and online resulted in an outstanding sold rate for a mixed vendor sale of 112% by value and 75% by volume, showing the depth of demand across all categories.

Results were led by stellar performances by artists including Cressida Campbell, John Coburn, Sidney Nolan, Ethel Spowers, Brett Whiteley, and Fred Williams, with new world auction records established for Knut Bull, Nicholas Chevalier, Conrad Martens and Mortimer Menpes.
