The 1955 Mille Miglia was won by a Mercedes Benz 300SLR driven by Stirling Moss and his observer Dennis Jenkinson. They completed the arduous race in record time. The car had been developed from the successful Grand Prix model W196. The 300SL was the on road version of this iconic racing car.

1957 saw the launch of the 300SL Roadster which along with its hard top brother, the ‘Gullwing’, was the first ever production car to be fitted with fuel injection.

The 300SL is one of the most recognisable and desirable sports cars of all time. Acknowledged as a truly great car both for its technical excellence and its audacious, wondrous styling, the Mercedes Benz is a founding member of the motoring pantheon.

This remarkable early 300SL Roadster of 1957 is one of 554 cars built in that year and of the 1858 total production run. Its light weight body over the tubular space frame is all in excellent condition as is its original engine which when new was capable of some 140 mph.

This highly original and matching numbers car is in superb condition throughout with its exemplary detail finish and has travelled only 10,000kms since its complete off chassis nut and bolt restoration at the hands of world renowned marque experts ‘Sleeping Beauties’. The vehicle is completed and accompanied by its very rare and highly desirable set of original Karl Baisch luggage.
