the rectangular top with fiddle back cedar veneer and drop leaves above two short drawers with later ebony handles (two original ones are with the piece), above a sliding sewing basket, raised on delicately carved spiral and ring turned tapering legs; 41CM WIDE, 60CM DEEP, 70CM HIGH;

NOTE This table shows the influence of Duncan Fyfth, a Scottish cabinet maker who immigrated to New York where he created his own distinct style. In particular this can be seen in the design of the legs of this table, with the spiral twisting going in opposite directions and the use of ring turning at the top along with the delicately carved floral details.

Another feature of Duncan Fyfth are the original large turned ebony knobs that are still with the piece although it is currently presented with later cedar examples
