The Cosmograph Daytona reference 116509 is designed to be the ultimate timepiece for endurance racing drivers with a tachymeter scale engraved into the bezel, stopwatch functions and its three subsidiary dials (a constant running seconds register at 6 o'clock, a 12 hour chronograph register at 9 o'clock, and a 30 minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock). Incorporating Rolex's in-house calibre 4130 movement, introduced in 2000 in place of the outsourced calibre 4030 and utilising fewer components than a standard chronograph, it will run for approximately 72 hours when fully wound. The classic configuration of the dial is nicknamed the 'panda' with the three black recessed subsidiary dials contrasting with the ivory main dial. The vintage styling of the 116509 combines a bold, sporty look with references to the model's racing legacy, reinforcing the enduring appeal of the Cosmograph Daytona.
