Paintings on rice paper - Condition Report

The six individual framed paintings are in generally sound condition consistent with the age, materials and techniques used by the artist. All panels display some discolouration and minor staining particularly noticeable in the background areas of the paper support. Certain individual images reveal a small number of minor losses to the rice paper support which may be the result of insect damage. Across the suite of six paintings there is also the occasional crease, indent and abrasions to the paper support and numerous scattered small accretions, some of which have associated staining. However, the painting medium itself is in good stable condition and appears to be relatively unaffected by the issues stated above.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed professional report.
