each panel of rectangular shape embroidered on the black silk ground with birds beside flowering plants and trees, one with a pair of cranes beside bamboo and a magnolia tree, another with pairs of peacocks and parrots near a pine tree, prunus and peony, and the third with a pair of pheasants, flowering cherry and peonies, the frame carved and pierced with fruiting gourd vine between panels similarly carved below and surmounted by shaped crestings, either side with a pierced flange supported on a recumbent Buddhist lion

Condition Report

The removable carved crestings - one crest with the right lower end of a foliate scroll chipped off approx 1.5 cm.One crest with the tip of the left lower foliate scroll end chipped off approx 2cm.One crest with the tip of the lower left foliate scroll end chipped off approx 2cm and a repair across the lower part of the crest, very difficult to see.The embroidery colours slightly faded overall.A crack in the glass across the upper right corner of the central panel approx 4cm long from edge to edge.The reverse - the left panel with a small area of the frame missing from around the upper pierced panel approx 3cm and some fixing pegs missing.The right panel with very small loss to the upper corner of the upper pierced panel approx 1.5cm.The centre panel very small loss to the lower left corner of the lower panel approx 1.5 cm.
