Determined bidding from clients in the saleroom, on telephones, and online resulted in an outstanding sold rate of 117% by value and 100% by volume, showing the depth of demand across all categories.
Results were led by stellar performances by artists including Charles Blackman, Elioth Gruner, John Olsen, Albert Tucker and Brett Whiteley.
Sale highlights included Brett Whiteley’s spectacular Her (1967) (Lot 5, estimate $1,800,000–2,400,000, sold for $2,150,000) and a new auction record for Elioth Gruner’s glorious Spring Morning, Middle Harbour 1913 (Lot 1, estimate $250,000-350,000, sold for $337,500).
