Surveying artistic practice from the last two centuries, the September Important Australian & International Art auction offered rare and never-before-seen examples of Naturalism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Modernism, along with paintings, sculptures and works on paper by the most influential artistic innovators of historical, modern and contemporary Australian and international art.

Realising a total of $6,304,375 and with a sold rate of 149% by value and 87% by volume – the highest in more than a decade at Smith & Singer (formerly trading as Sotheby's Australia) – the September 2020 sale galvanised bidding from across Australia and the world.
