Rolex Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ races to a new auction record for a wristwatch in Australia

Standout results for diamonds and coloured diamonds

Outstanding results were achieved at Sotheby’s Australia’s May auction of Important Jewels that featured an impressive spectrum of coloured gemstones and diamonds as well as a variety of period and contemporary jewels and watches.  A Rolex Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ set a new auction record of $219,600 for a wristwatch in Australia and strong prices were achieved for designer pieces by Bulgari, Cartier, David Webb, Paspaley, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels.  The sale realised $1,870,870 with 78.4% sold by value.
