Tide, a work of late Australian artist Bronwyn Oliver, has sold for $1.25 million at auction.
The figure beat the record set a year ago by Joel Elenberg.
The tide rushed in for Bronwyn Oliver on Wednesday night, when a work by the late Sydney artist that for years had greeted patrons at fine diner Quay set a price record for Australian sculpture at auction.
The late Sydney artist Bronwyn Oliver has broken the sales record for Australia sculpture, with her monumental 2000 work Tide fetching $1m at auction, or $1.25m with buyer’s premium, in Sydney on Wednesday evening.
